1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Skedaddle Studios handles information when you visit our website, contact us, or participate in private development playtests of Break In, formerly known as House Hunt.
Break In is in pre-production and is not publicly available. You can read this website and this policy without signing in. The information handled depends on whether you browse the website, contact support, or play the game.
2. Who operates the service
Skedaddle Studios is an independent game development studio operated by a solo developer in the United States. We develop Break In and operate this website.
For support and privacy inquiries, email support@skedaddle-studios.com.
3. Information collected
- Account and identity information: Epic account identifiers, Epic Online Services (EOS) Product User IDs, authentication status, and player display names. A player-selected display name and game preferences are saved locally in the game's settings.
- Multiplayer information: session identifiers, player rosters and roles, connection and disconnection events, network information needed to communicate with servers, and gameplay state.
- Playtest information: round and session identifiers, timestamps, in-game actions and positions, damage events, match timing, results, and related technical information.
- Voice information: microphone audio transmitted during live voice communication, temporary audio buffers needed for playback, voice-room membership, and technical voice status information.
- Technical information: client and server logs, connection errors, and diagnostic files generated by the game or its runtime.
- Website and support information: technical request information processed by the website host, plus your email address and any information you choose to send to support.
Browsing this website does not sign you into Epic, connect you to a game session, or activate your microphone.
4. How information is used
We use information to authenticate players, find and join multiplayer sessions, operate matches, route voice communication, save preferences, investigate technical problems, evaluate playtest results, and improve the game. We use support correspondence to respond to inquiries and privacy requests.
We do not use game telemetry for advertising or build advertising profiles from it. We do not sell personal information.
5. Epic Games authentication and services
Break In uses Epic Account Services and EOS Connect for online authentication. The normal Windows sign-in flow opens Epic's account portal in your browser. Epic processes your sign-in and provides account identifiers and authentication results that the game uses for online features. EOS Connect supplies a Product User ID used by multiplayer services.
The game also uses Epic Online Services for multiplayer sessions and live voice communication. Information is exchanged with Epic as needed to provide those features. Epic's handling of information is described in the Epic Games Privacy Policy. That policy applies to Epic's own services and processing.
6. Multiplayer and server data
Game servers process player identifiers, display names, session and roster information, roles, gameplay state, connection activity, and network information needed to deliver a match. Other participants receive the display names, shared gameplay information, and live voice needed to take part in the session.
Technical logs can contain session identifiers, connection events, network details, player or actor identifiers, and error information. Our development setup uses a dedicated Linux game server hosted on DigitalOcean, separate from the website host.
7. Voice chat
Break In uses EOS voice for live, open-microphone communication when voice is enabled and the microphone is unmuted. Living players use proximity-based audio. Eliminated players transmit through a separate channel. Received audio is temporarily buffered in memory and processed for playback, including distance and wall filtering.
Skedaddle Studios does not record, transcribe, or save voice conversations as audio files. Temporary live audio buffers are used to deliver and play speech; they are not a retained recording. Technical voice logs can include room membership, microphone mute state, volume settings, and packet counters, rather than recordings of speech.
You can mute your microphone and adjust voice volume in the game settings. Epic processes voice traffic to provide its service under its own privacy policy. Other participants may use recording tools outside the game; this policy describes Skedaddle Studios' handling of information.
8. Gameplay telemetry and diagnostics
The game's playtest recorder is enabled by default on the authority, such as the dedicated server or a listen host. It appends CSV files containing round and session identifiers, event timestamps, player or actor identifiers, map and build information, roles, in-game positions, actions, damage, timing, and results. We use these records to understand playtests, investigate issues, and improve game balance.
These records are not anonymous. They can be associated with a playtest session and may be linked to players using other session records. Clients do not automatically receive copies of the server's telemetry files.
The game and Unreal Engine runtime can generate client and server logs and local diagnostic or crash files. Such files may include system and build details, error information, logs, and relevant process state. We have not added a separate external analytics or crash-reporting service. If you send diagnostic files to support, we process the information they contain to investigate your report.
9. Website hosting and technical logs
This website uses Cloudflare Pages for static hosting. Cloudflare processes technical request information, such as IP addresses, requested URLs, timestamps, browser request headers, and security-related information, to deliver and protect the website. Cloudflare's processing is described in its privacy policy.
The website itself does not set tracking cookies, use browser storage for tracking, or include advertising or analytics scripts. Its images, styles, scripts, and fonts are served locally. It has no account system or contact form. Links to third-party websites are regular links rather than embedded services.
10. Third-party services
The services used to provide the website and online game features are:
- Epic Games: account authentication, EOS Connect, multiplayer sessions, and live voice communication. See the Epic Games Privacy Policy.
- DigitalOcean: hosting for the dedicated development game server. See DigitalOcean's privacy policy.
- Cloudflare: website hosting and delivery. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.
- Email services: our studio-domain support address forwards mail to the developer's mailbox. The forwarding and receiving mail services process sender details and message contents to deliver and store correspondence.
These providers may also process technical information as part of operating and securing their own services. Their own policies govern that processing.
11. Data sharing
We share information with the service providers described above as needed to authenticate players, host the website and game server, operate sessions and voice, and deliver support email. Participants receive the shared gameplay information and live voice needed for a match.
We do not sell personal information or share gameplay telemetry with advertisers. We may disclose information if required by applicable law or a valid legal request.
12. Data retention
Playtest CSV files are saved on the server or other device running the game authority. The recorder has no automatic expiry or scheduled purge. These files remain until manually deleted; stopping future recording does not delete earlier files. There is no fixed retention period implemented for this telemetry.
Client and server logs and local diagnostic files remain in their respective device or server storage until removed through manual cleanup or the relevant runtime, system, or hosting controls. Local game preferences remain until changed, reset, or removed. Support email remains in the receiving mailbox unless deleted.
We do not maintain an additional telemetry database, archive service, or voice-recording store. Service providers retain information they process under their own policies and service settings. You can contact us to request access to or deletion of information held by Skedaddle Studios.
13. Data security
We use the account, authentication, and hosting features of the service providers described in this policy to operate the services. Epic manages the account sign-in flow; the website is designed to be delivered over HTTPS. Game telemetry and logs are stored as files on the relevant game device or server.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Avoid including passwords, authentication tokens, or unnecessary sensitive information in support messages or files you send us.
14. User privacy rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or obtain a copy of personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. These rights may have conditions or exceptions. You may also have the right to complain to a relevant privacy authority.
Contact support@skedaddle-studios.com about information handled by Skedaddle Studios. Requests about an Epic account or another provider's independent processing should also be directed to that provider where appropriate.
15. Data access and deletion requests
Email support@skedaddle-studios.com with a description of your request. For playtest records, include the approximate playtest date and display name to help us locate the information. We may need additional information to verify the requester and identify relevant records. Do not send your account password or authentication tokens.
Requests are handled directly by the developer. The game has no self-service telemetry deletion tool. We will review requests and respond in accordance with applicable law, including any limits on access or deletion. Removing the game or disconnecting an Epic account does not automatically delete files already held on our server. We cannot delete another provider's independent records or copies held by other participants.
16. Children's privacy
Break In currently has private development playtests rather than public access. This website does not collect dates of birth or provide an age-verification or parental-consent form.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information to Skedaddle Studios, contact support@skedaddle-studios.com so we can review the information and address any applicable access or deletion request. Epic's account and parental-control practices are described in Epic's own privacy policy.
17. International data handling
Skedaddle Studios is based in the United States. Our hosting, online-service, and email providers may process information in other countries where they operate. Information sent to us or exchanged to deliver online features may therefore be processed outside your country. The providers' privacy policies describe their international processing arrangements.
18. Policy updates
We may update this policy as the game develops or our data practices change. We will publish the updated policy on this page and revise its effective date. Where applicable law requires additional notice of a material change, we will provide that notice.
